International Transpersonal Training Holos

Training Framework

The International Transpersonal Training Holos is a modular educational program focused on developing therapeutic competencies in working with non-ordinary states of consciousness, emotions, the body, and the spiritual dimension of human experience. The training is grounded in transpersonal psychology while placing strong emphasis on clinical responsibility, ethics, and the long-term integration of experience into everyday life.

The core pillar of the training is the Grof® Legacy Training – Holos, which provides both an experiential and theoretical foundation for working with non-ordinary states of consciousness, including an expanded map of the human psyche that encompasses not only the biographical domain but also perinatal and transpersonal dimensions.

Building on this foundation, participants may choose additional specialized training pathways that further develop competencies across various fields, deepen therapeutic skills, and anchor the transpersonal approach in concrete practice. These include, for example, Sandplay therapy, music therapy, body-oriented work, integrative psychotherapy, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.

The training is designed as a modular system that allows for an individualized professional trajectory while maintaining clear standards of quality, personal experience, supervision, and ethical practice. Emphasis is placed on the maturation of the therapist’s personality, the ability to discern indications and contraindications, and the safe facilitation of clients through deep psychological processes.

The training concept is developed in alignment with international standards of transpersonal education and aims toward institutional recognition within the EUROTAS framework. Individual training components, which may also be completed independently, can hold their own partial accreditations.

Grof® Legacy Training - Holos

The foundation of our educational system is the 3.5-year Grof® Legacy Training – Holos (GLT-H). Graduates of this program are qualified to facilitate Grof® Breathwork within experiential seminars worldwide. The training consists of eight thematically focused modules:

  • Grof® Breathwork I: The Path of Self-Discovery and Healing

  • Grof® Breathwork II: Holotropic States of Consciousness and the Understanding of Art

  • Architecture of Emotional and Psychosomatic Disorders

  • The Process of Dying, Death, and Rebirth

  • Shamanism and Rites of Passage in Contemporary Practice

  • Psychospiritual Crisis and Addictions: Understanding and Treatment

  • Psyche and Cosmos

  • Certification Double Module

In addition, the program includes four weekend modules focused on mentoring, skills training, and experiential practice, as well as one week-long experiential module.

Outside of the formal training modules, participants are required to complete 20 hours of psychotherapy for the integration of emerging material, 200 hours of internships, participation as a volunteer at one festival in a harm reduction role, and independent study of relevant literature. For certification, students must complete a minimum of 30 Grof® Breathwork sessions as part of their personal experiential work.

In total, the training comprises 846 hours.

Completion of other Grof® Legacy Training programs may be recognized based on individual assessment. In such cases, participation in an additional integration component within Holos may be required.

The training has its own website: www.grof-legacy-training.cz

Follow-up Trainings – Deepening and Specialization

Topics introduced in the GLT primarily at the level of personal experience and foundational understanding are systematically deepened in the follow-up trainings from therapeutic, clinical, and integrative perspectives. Participants select a combination of trainings according to their professional focus and background. Each program may have its own entry requirements in terms of prior education. Some trainings are also open to the public outside the GLT-H framework.

Offered Specialization Trainings:

Sandplay Therapy and Symbol Work (120 hours)

Deepening work with the unconscious, archetypes, and imagery within the therapeutic process.

Holistic Music Therapy (120 hours)

Music as a therapeutic tool for regulation, expression, and shifts in consciousness. Includes an advanced fifth module focused on the use of music in holotropic and psychedelic processes.

Bioenergetics and Body-Oriented Work (60 hours)

Conscious work with bodily energy, emotions, boundaries, and nervous system regulation.
Planned for 2027.

Integrative Psychotherapy for Transpersonal Therapists (200 hours)

Anchoring transpersonal work within a clinical and psychotherapeutic framework, including indications, contraindications, and ethics.
Mandatory for students without a full psychotherapy training.
Planned for 2027.

Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (160 hours)

Theory and practice of contemporary psychedelic therapy.
Planned for 2027/2028.

Follow-up modules provide deeper competencies for the application of specific therapeutic approaches and develop the skills required for long-term clinical practice. All trainings include not only theoretical input and skills training but also a substantial experiential component.

All specialization trainings have their own partial certifications, and most can be completed independently of the Holos Transpersonal Training, making them accessible to professionals from the wider expert community.

Certification: Transpersonal Therapist

We also offer our students the opportunity to obtain the Transpersonal Therapist Holos certification, which is aligned with the EUROTAS certification Certificate of Transpersonal Psychotherapy (CTP). Who the training is for

The International Transpersonal Training Holos is designed as a modular educational system in which individual training components have their own entry requirements. These vary depending on the nature of the training, its focus, and the intended professional application of its graduates.

1. Individuals Seeking Personal Experience and Development

Grof® Legacy Training – Holos is also open to participants without formal professional education in the helping professions who are interested in deep self-exploration, personal growth, and understanding transpersonal processes.

Graduates of GLT without formal professional qualifications may apply the acquired experience and competencies:

  • in personal and professional development,

  • in working with groups in non-clinical contexts,

  • in facilitating experiential and personal development seminars for the public,

  • within their original (non-clinical) professional background.

However, GLT–Holos alone does not qualify individuals to practice clinical or healthcare-related therapy.

2. Professionals and Helping Professions

Individual specialization trainings (e.g., holistic music therapy, Sandplay therapy, body-oriented work) are primarily intended for:

  • therapists, counselors, and facilitators,

  • professionals in social services, educators, and special educators,

  • other specialists working with people in supportive, educational, or community settings.

Applicants should have:

  • relevant professional experience or education,

  • a basic orientation in working with people,

  • the capacity for self-reflection and respect for an ethical framework.

Specific admission requirements may vary depending on the training and are always detailed in its description.

3. Applicants Pursuing a Professional Therapeutic Path

The Transpersonal Therapist Holos certification is intended for applicants who:

  • have completed the Grof® Legacy Training – Holos,

  • have completed the required combination of specialization trainings,

  • possess relevant professional education or a background in the helping professions,

  • have fulfilled the supervision and integration components of the training.

Without meeting these conditions, the certification cannot be granted, even if individual training modules have been completed.

4. Individual Assessment

Applicants with non-standard or interdisciplinary professional backgrounds may be admitted based on individual assessment and an entry interview. The purpose of this process is to evaluate the suitability of the training in relation to the applicant’s experience, personal maturity, and intended professional application.

The International Transpersonal Training Holos offers multiple entry pathways—from experiential personal development to professional therapeutic qualification. The scope of graduates’ professional application is always determined by the combination of completed trainings and their prior education or professional background.
